What was I thinking???
Ok, this is a sequel to my last post... may be a bit too late for this post...
Anyway, to reply some of the comments... I did manage to get some of Amrita's pics. And again, I *am* preparing my website... unfortunately my web developer is going on a hypo-drive (as opposed to hyper....) Raja? You listening? And thanks to Samjhana, for not sleeping half way through it!
Um, well, now that you know I tried to participate in that contest... a few months have gone by before the pics were exhibited. Naturally I was all excited. For the first time, I had put something on public display.
It felt very weird, and kind of hit my nerves. I had about 5 rolls of film, but couldn't find 3 good pics from them. Ultimately mom, dad and sis chose three pics from 200 something pics and I submitted them. And before this, none of my shots have been compared to those of others. People have seen my pics and claimed few of them to be good, and I myself felt one or two of them to be of real value. But for the first time, I was head to head with other amateurs. And boy, they were amateurs, with point-and-shoot cameras, and some had semi-professional digital SLR's. I saw at least one Nikon D75 with a Nikkor lens and Speedlite flash... um.. thats expensive!! hundred and fifty thousand ... cool ... rupees.
So the exhibition starts and I go there.. ask all of my friends to visit the gallary... and vote for me. Many did vote for me, but when I went there, boy, was i ashamed? I think mine were the worst among them. Those that I was proud of.... seemed too... way too... bad. I don't have any other words for them. Anyway, I ducked out of the place and went to closing event, just to get the certificate -- worthless as it was.
I feel, looking as is, without comparision to others, my pics were nice. Definitely not the best, but they were nice. I had a 5 sec exposure of Mahadev-Parbati Mandir, but was a little too under-exposed, a Kumari-in-rath that lacked contrast, and Yashii Event that was just too confusing. All in all, good pics that was not good enough.
Ok so much for now. Raja, I desperately need to upload those pics. Please, please, please finish it soon!!!!
